Katherine Mercado is an Associate at Third Sector based in Falls Church, Virginia. Before joining the team, Katherine worked with the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) to launch and develop a joint initiative with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation focused on bringing state and local business and early childhood stakeholders together to find bipartisan solutions to child care in traditionally republican states. Katherine was responsible for fostering and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and organizations, providing logistical support and technical assistance.
In addition, Katherine led BPC’s research on the child care preferences and needs of Hispanic parents while also evaluating how culture and generational status may impact these decisions.
Katherine graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in Community and Nonprofit Leadership with a minor in Public Policy. During her time at UW-Madison, Mercado helped jumpstart a story-based map presentation for the purposes of education and grant proposals for the Wisconsin Latinx History Collective, a group of scholars and researchers committed to documenting the history of Latinx peoples in Wisconsin.
