As a Director in Third Sector’s San Francisco office, Yelena leads our efforts in workforce and economic opportunity, supporting government, non-profit, and philanthropic clients in measurably improving employment and education outcomes for communities in need. Yelena also acts as Third Sector’s General Counsel, advising on various legal and compliance matters. Prior to joining Third Sector, Yelena worked at HIP Investor, where she co-managed HIP's research, analysis and ratings of stocks, bonds, and agencies, and structured strategic partnerships. Prior to HIP, for 10 years Yelena was a corporate, venture capital and licensing attorney advising funders, startup founders, and executives on financial, legal and business strategy and execution. She also has significant experience structuring, negotiating and implementing complex multi-million-dollar business transactions. Yelena is originally from the former Soviet Union, now Belarus. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Political Economy and a minor in Business Administration, and holds a J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She also holds Executive Certifications in Sustainable Management with a focus on Strategy, Finance and Capital Management from the Presidio Graduate School.
