As a Director in Third Sector’s San Francisco office, Yelena delivers feasibility assessment, technical assistance, and deal construction support to government, non-profit, and philanthropic clients. Yelena also acts as Third Sector’s Deputy General Counsel, advising on various legal and compliance matters. Yelena previously worked at HIP Investor, where she co-managed HIP's research, analysis and ratings of stocks, corporate and municipal bonds, and agencies. Yelena also managed HIP's licensing agreements and structured strategic partnerships. Prior to HIP, for 10 years Yelena was a corporate, venture capital and licensing attorney advising funders, startup founders, and executives on financial, legal and business strategy and execution. She also has significant experience structuring, negotiating and managing complex multi-million dollar business transactions. Yelena is originally from the former Soviet Union, now Belarus. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Political Economy and a minor in Business Administration, and holds a J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She also holds Executive Certifications in Sustainable Management with a focus on Strategy, Finance and Capital Management from the Presidio Graduate School.
