As Managing Director, Partnerships & Project Development, Maria is responsible for identifying and engaging on strategic opportunities, developing new clients, and meeting revenue, pipeline, and partnership goals. Maria joins Third Sector on the heels of a decade-long career in international development. Through work with Winrock International, Creative Associates, Blumont, and Pact International, she led opportunity development, capture, and proposal management for social development pursuits in the areas of poverty reduction, economic growth, community development, education, human rights, civil society strengthening, health systems strengthening, peacebuilding, and youth and women’s empowerment. In progressively more senior roles, she managed new business efforts with the US Dept. of Labor, US. Department of Agriculture, US. Department of State, and U.S Agency for International Development. Maria also supervised and mentored associates and interns on new business and designed and delivered training to peers on writing, pricing and new business process management. She visited 15 countries in Africa and Asia, secured over $300 million in new business and maintained an average win-rate of 50%.
Maria holds an M.A from Uppsala University in Peace and Conflict Research and a B.A from Wellesley College in International Relations with a concentration in Political Science. Outside of Third Sector, Maria enjoys teaching fitness classes, listening to audiobooks, and playing with her two young sons.
