Carmon is Third Sector's Financial Controller. He works directly with the Managing Director of Finance and Operations to ensure the smooth operation of the Finance team and leads daily financial activities.
Carmon started his career in public accounting in 2010 at Gorfine, Schiller, & Gardyn (Owings Mills, MD) as a member of the audit team. In February of 2012, he became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Maryland. His career in public accounting led him to the space of non-profit accounting, where he found his niche. In 2013, he joined the non-profit Achieve, Inc. (Washington, DC), as a Senior Accountant. Reporting directly to the Controller, Carmon performed full cycle accounting, including preparing financial statements and coordinating the preparation and execution of the annual audit, for this organization of 50+ employees operating on an annual budget of $10 million.
Prior to joining the Third Sector team, Carmon worked as the Controller at STEP, Inc. (Williamsport, PA), where he managed a team of seven. Carmon’s work experience at this community action agency garnered him valuable knowledge and insight into the financial management of both federal and state grants and awards.
Carmon is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and graduated magna cum laude from Winston-Salem State University, where he double majored in Biology and Chemistry. He studied Accounting and Business Advisory at Towson University.
